ROSS SNOW GLOBE

Carbon VFX LA tapped me to create a festive snow globe animation for use in Ross' holiday commercials.

Using Cinema 4D, I was able to quickly create previz animations on how the snow globe itself would animate into the scene. Next, I sent all the data to Houdini via alembic files to start look development for the particles inside of the snow globe. Using the imported geometry, I created several VDB's to generate my collision geometry as well as the source area for my fluid emission. I used the pyro solver to simulate density to create the general velocity inside the snow globe. Using velocity data from the pyro simulation I was able to advect the particles. Finally, adding a couple pop wrangles and pop objects I was able to further control the behavior of the particle simulation. I used Redshift to render out of Cinema 4D and After Effects for compositing.
